Wound Care
After eyelid surgery, you will notice that the area around your eyes will be swollen and bruised. This may become worse in the first week after the surgery, but will improve with time. The swelling and bruising may cause you to have a sensation of discomfort and tightness around your eyes. To help with the swelling and bruising you will be asked to use a cold compress around your eyes. If the discomfort you feel is excessive, you should contact your surgeon immediately. You will also be asked to use an antibiotic eye ointment on your incisions. The antibiotic ointment can also be used to help lubricate your eyes, but this may also cause your vision to seem blurred. As for the incisions, if non-dissolvable stitches were used in surgery, they will be removed in 5 to 7 days. You may notice some crusting along your incision lines. This crusting can be gently cleaned away with soap and water.
